Research has led me to believe that the most beneficial position for deep relaxation is lying on your back with your arms by your sides, palms facing up, legs straight out, and toes pointing to the sides. Your breathing is deep but relaxed and the mind is relaxed as well as the physical body.
Studies have shown that for most people, only three months of 20 minutes per day spent in deep relaxation causes blood pressure to normalize, overall energy to increase, moods to improve, sleep to improve and both hands and feet to become warmer. This result suggests that relaxation improves circulation.
Deep relaxation can be done in bed for ten minutes upon waking in the morning and for ten minutes before going to sleep. If something happens to stress you out at any time during the day, relaxing deeply can really help.
